"If you knew how many graves I dug..." -Dr. Shadowflux
Body Slot: – (held)
Caster Level: 20th
Aura: Overwhelming; (DC 20) Necromancy
Activation: Standard Action
Weight: 4 lb.
This simple looking steel headed, oak handled shovel contains some of the latent necromantic power of Dr. Aeneas Shadowflux himself.
When stuck into the ground, the area becomes instantly Desecrated, as per the spell cast by a 20th level caster. The area remains Desecrated until dispelled.
Digging a grave (1 Hour) causes a zombie to appear in the grave which was dug and under the command of the wielder of the shovel until dismissed.
The shovel enables the wielder to create and control a number of zombies equal to the wielder’s hit dice. These undead minions do not count towards the maximum number of undead that can be controlled by the Animate Dead spell, Create Undead spell, Create Greater Undead spell, Command Undead spell, Rebuke Undead ability, or other similar effect.
If used as an improvised weapon, consider the flat part of the shovel a bludgeoning weapon, the sides of the shovel as a slashing weapon, and the tip of the shovel as a piercing weapon that all cause 1d6 points of damage and the standard x2 critical. All wielders are considered proficient in its use (no improvised weapon penalties).
Treat the improvised weapon as magic and evil aligned for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction.
Zombies that were created by this shovel, are automatically destroyed if attacked by this shovel as an improvised weapon.
